Belarusian MFA makes a statement on Poczobut's case
This was the reaction to the protest note handed to the Belarusian Ambassador in Warsaw.
The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs underlines in its comment that "Poczobut is a citizen of the Republic of Belarus who lives and works in our country, and, as any other citizen, lives in the legal environment set by the Belarusian legislation".
Let us remind you, journalist of the Polish newspaper "Gazeta Wyborcza" and member of the Council of the Union of Poles in Belarus Andrzej Poczobut was arrested last week in Hrodna. He was accused of insulting the President of Belarus. A year ago, the court of Hrodna already considered Poczobut guilty under this article, and sentenced him to three years of imprisonment with suspension of sentence for 2 years.
