Bomb wasn't made in Minsk, no details given "in interests of investigation"
A Deputy general public prosecutor Andrej Shved stated that 5 people had been detained upon Minsk terrorist act case.
A Deputy General public prosecutor Andrej Shved stated that 5 people had been detained upon Minsk terrorist act case. The executor and the person who helped him are in custody. According to Shved, "about 1 000 objects of material evidence" were found during investigation.
Shved: "The place where the bomb was made is detected, evidence (elements, spare parts, fragments) which show how, when and of which materials the explosive device was made were found there.
We traced at which station the terrorist had entered metro via observation cameras, and detected his place of residence during the operation".
Separate video-shots were demonstrated at the press-conference, not a whole video. The shots picture a man with a big bag, the moment of installation of the explosive device. The camera above the passing tunnel fixed that the executor no longer had a bag with him, he was watching the train's arrival, then did some manipulations to activate the explosive device. His face is not seen in these video-shots.
The investigation group received a thousand of telephone calls from the citizens during the investigation. Each message, each piece of information will be checked, Andrej Shved says.
Convincing evidence that it was the detained person, who had made the bomb which had failed to explode on July 3, 2008 in Minsk, was obtained. The detained are citizens of the Republic of Belarus, aged under 30, not convicted before.
Euroradio: Were there metal subprojectiles in the bomb?
Shved: "Yes, there were subprojectiles. We have a huge massive of proofs. We are collecting subprojectiles: from the bodies of the deceased and casualties, at the crime site. There are subprojectiles of several types".
Shved asks not to trust hoaxes, like the information that psychiatrists talked to the detained. "This is a hoax, only the official authorities' representatives should be trusted", the Deputy General public prosecutor said.
Shved: "I can tell you for sure that we have found the executor".
Andrej Shved answers many question in the following way: "I cannot tell you this in the
interests of the investigation".
One of the external observation cameras (not in the metro) fixed the executor's face clearly, Shved says. It was also defined that the bombs exploded in Vitsebsk in 2005, two bombs of July 2008 in Minsk, and the one exploded on April 11 this year in Minsk metro were made by one and the same person, Shved says.
Euroradio: Can you tell us how many "panic-mongers" were detained?
Shved: "No... All the statements which contain false information are checked by the investigation in due course. All panic-mongers will be interrogated; some of them are being interrogated already".
