Red-tape cuts: no young specialists required
“People work, everything is quiet. We will act according to the decree when it is signed."
“Should we hire people now and reduce the staff later? We will have to provide them with work for two years, but how? Should we sack experienced specialists?!" The Ministry of Taxation wondered.
The staff reduction will allow to increase officials' salaries, Alyaksandr Lukashenka thinks. The Ministry of Taxation agrees with it.
“We offered a salary of 840 thousand roubles in universities last year. Nobody came to us because it is impossible to live on 100 dollars in Minsk and to rent a flat. And we are not allowed to work up anywhere, even on the Internet. The Law on state service forbids it," the tax inspectorate complained.
The Ministry of Trade hopes for a reasonable staff reduction. Reasonable.
“The boss will decide how to deal with the issue. If a pension age employee is very good and experienced it does not mean that they will be fired." The staff reduction took place when "Belbyt" was attached to the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry told Euroradio. A number of new functions were introduced.
The Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Architecture have refused to comment on it - there is no decree!
“People work, everything is quiet. We will act according to the decree when it is signed," the Ministry of Architecture and Building replied.
It seems that the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services have already experienced staff reduction – nobody answered the phone regardless of our hours-long attempts to call there.
The National Bank was clever: they fired 40% of employees 1.5 years ago instead of 25% now – drivers, cleaners, cash messengers and some bank clerks. Regardless of the staff reduction, they still have enough cleaners, the National Bank says.
There is no reason to fire employees of rural executive committees because they usually have only three employees, head of Nyasvizh Rural Executive Committee Anatol Bahdan told Euroradio:
“We need people to take part in community work days, to clean the snow, to control the beautification of the territory and to check pensioners. Our country should look as good as Europe!"
Officials of Regional Executive Committees are not as calm as ministerial officials. Pensioners will be allowed to finish their work, Hrodna Region Executive Committee said.
“The staff reduction will be gradual. The human factor will be taken into account. People may have many children or need to work until their pension age..."
The new work will begin on June 1 – the staff reduction will have finished then.
