EU not "to buy" Belarus

The development of Russia-Belarus relatiosn does not impede the development of EU-Belarus relations, she told "Interfax-West". "The EU cannot "buy" any country," Ms. Mora claimed. Such an approach contradicts the values and principles of the European Union, she stressed.
The EU is ready to negotiate on the simplification of the visa regime for Belarus, Maira Mora said. Brussels has been waiting for Belarus' response since June 2011.
"The EU is still ready to negotiate on agreements on the visa regime simplification which would promote contacts between people and prove useful for the Belarusian society," "Interfax-West" quotes Maira Mora. "Everything that is needed is the Belarusian authorities' reply," the EU administration stresses.
Speaking about the current EU-Belarus relations, Maira Mora noted that they were "in a rather backward state". "Work is needed" to restore trust between Brussels and Minsk.
Total exoneration and release of Belarusian political prisoners and activists is the main term for resuming a full-scale dialogue, head of the EU delegation noted.
