European Parliament to discuss situation with human rights in Belarus today
European Parliament will also discuss the situation with democracy and supremacy of law.
According to BelaPAN, these debates will take place in the framework of the Strasbourg session, which is held on May 9-12. MEPs will adopt a resolution upon the results of this discussion.
Let us remind you, the European Parliament adopted a resolution back on January 20, in which it strongly condemned brutal repressions in Belarus on December 19. The European Parliament urged the council of the EU to conduct an independent investigation of the Dec. 19 events under OSCE's auspices.
The European Parliament also urged the EU leaders to impose sanctions on the Belarusian officials, who were connected with repressions during the presidential campaign. Sanctions should be in force until release of all political prisoners.
