Eurovision winner meets Azerbaijani activists (video)
Loreen met human rights activists and independent journalists and condemned violation of human rights last week.
She was the only European singer to have met independent journalists and human rights activists in Azerbaijan and to have criticized the human rights situation in the country. She was rebuked by the authorities for it. The TV-channel Al Jazeera has informed about it referring to the newspaper “Azadlyk”.
An Azerbaijani activist is describing to Loreen how people were made to resettle in order to build the Eurovision concert hall in Baku.
The inscription on the T-shirt she was holding in her hands in Baku says: “Don’t be a Donkey - support human rights in Azerbaijan!”
"The government paid 84 thousand dollars for two German donkeys in 2008. Adnan and I (Adnan Hajizade – blogger and founder of the Azerbaijani youth movement - Euroradio) dared to laugh at the absurdity and were imprisoned for 16 months for it”, - wrote Azerbaijani writer and dissident Emin Milli on Facebook.
