Head of IIHF stands against transferring of Ice Hockey World Cup 2014
Rene Fazel has said this in his opening speech at the IIHF Congress which started in Helsinki.
The sports official has stated in his speech that the IIHF office has been receiving the appeals to move the Ice Hockey World Cup-2014 away from Belarus. Fazel says that everyone can express their opinion, but the IIHF Council thinks that sports organizations should not do the politicians' work or be political marionettes.
In Fazel's opinion, sport should facilitate political relief. He reminded that in 1970s table tennis competitions helped to melt the relations between the U.S. and China.
Alongside with that, the IIHF President noted that the Congress might take another decision, which would not coincide with his opinion.
