Canadian Pat Cortina greets his Belarus colleague Andrei Skabelka in Belarusian after friendly clash in Minsk
Minsk Arena hosted a friendly match between Germany and Belarus ice hockey men's national teams. Belarus won on shootouts 4:3 (1:1, 1:1, 1:1, 0:0, 1:0).
Team Germany coach had taken some classes of Belarusian language before the game. In an interview with Pressball, Pat Cortina was asking what language Belarusians spoke and talking about national dignity.
After the match, he addressed his Belarusian colleague Andrei Skabelka.
"Vinsuju majho kaliehu! (Congrats to my colleague! in Belarusian - Euroradio) It was a good friendly match. The Belarus team performed excellent in the first period, overtaking us. Yet after the break we got ourselves more into the game and started playing a more confident way and creating opportunities," Cortina is quoted as saying by goals.by.
On April 6 Belarus and Germany will play another friendly in Salihorsk (start at 1700).
