IMF is urged not to give new credits to Belarusian authorities
The report “Democratic Change in Belarus-A Framework for Action” has been presented in Washington.
This document has been prepared by the experts of the Center for European Policy Analysis and the organization Freedom House. The report includes recommendations for both Western politicians and Belarusaian opposition and civil society on what to do to achieve democratic changes in Belarus, and how to do it, Radio Liberty informs.
The authors claim that Lukashenka's positions are weaker and more vulnerable than before. At the presentation, they urged not to support the Belarusian regime financially in any case. In the opinion of the authors of the report, the IMF should not give any new credits to Belarus. The speakers in Washington also told about the necessity to stop Lukashenka from selling the actives of big Belarusian enterprises. This is the way, they think, the Belarusian state leader may obtain money to maintain the regime.
