Maryna Kavaleuskaya suspected in military draft avoidance
This is how the authorities explained that the lawyer was not allowed to leave Belarus yesterday.
Kavaleuskaya has told in a comment to Euroradio that she has never been bound to military service.
Kavaleuskaya: "This is an absolute absurdity for me. I have never been bound to military service, I don't have a military ticket, I am not registered in any military enlistment office. This only confirms that the prohibition to go abroad is connected with certain peculiarities of the cases that I worked on. This makes me feel sad as lawyers are led only by the law in their activity".
Let us remind you, Kavaleuskaya defended ex-presidential candidate Andrei Sannikau after the events of December 19, 2010 in court.
In order to protect her rights, the lawyer sent the documents to the Republican and Minsk Bar Association asking to react to violation of her constitutional rights. Kavaleuskaya is also asking to help her to get crossed out of the list of "travel banned".
Let us remind you, the Belarusian list of "travel banned" now includes about a dozen and a half people - journalists, politicians, human rights defenders.
