An "Assembly" member Volha Tyhrytskaya has told Euroradio about the aims of this new initiative. According to her, the activists did not address to the women's party "Nadzeya" as they knew the party was in very complicated conditions.
Tyhrytskaya: “The idea is to strengthen the role of a woman in decision-taking in politics. Our activity, the activity of the Belarusian Social-Democratic party's women, will be directed to solving social problems, and to increasing of a woman's role in economic, social and political sphere".
The party plans to conduct a congress in May. An application for creating the women's wing will be handed out to the delegates. Tyhrytskaya says this BSDP wing may become the basis for creating a new women's movement in the best case.
