Public prosecution not to start a criminal case against Syarhej Mikhalok
Prosecutors found no misdemeanor dangerous for the society in the words of "Lyapis Trubetskoy" leader, but Mikhalok is not going to return to Belarus so far.
The public prosecution will not start a criminal case against leader of the band "Lyapis Trubetskoy" Syarhej Mikhalok due to the absense of the corpus delicti in his words. This is stated in the letter from the Minsk public prosecution, which the musician's lawyer received recently.
"They write that, according to the results of this checking they took a procedural decision not to start a criminal case due to the absense of a misdemeanor which would be dangerous for the society, prescribed by the criminal law", – press-secretary of "Lyapis Trubetskoy" Alyaksandr Berger reads out the letter. –There is a date here - December 22, 2011, but we got this letter only in a month".
However, Syarhej Mikhalok has not visited Belarus yet, and when he decides to do this he will not make it public, Berger adds.
Let us remind you, last October Syarhej Mikhalok received a summon to come to the public prosecutor's office of the Central district of Minsk. However, he was on tour abroad at that time and did not come. The investigator explained to Euroradio later that they had not started a criminal case but conducted checking with regard to Mikhalok's public statements about Alyaksandr Lukashenka, in which he had sharply criticized the Belarusian state leader.
