Putin’s first official visit – he arrives in Minsk today
The Russian President’s official visit will last until Friday, June 1.
According to BelaPAN, our country’s financial support, privatization of big Belarusian enterprises by Russian investors, construction of the NPP and other things will be discussed at the meeting of the Belarusian and Russian Presidents.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Vladimir Putin are going to sign a joint statement that would confirm “the mutual intention to continue developing deep integration connections and two-year cooperation in all directions”.
"Minsk is only a stop in Putin’s trip to Europe. The Russian President will also be welcomed in Paris and Berlin… Nevertheless, the results of the Russian-Belarusian summit cannot but affect Putin’s European meetings”, - noted political scientist Kiryl Koktysh in an interview with RIA “Novosti”.
Let us note that detentions and trials of opposition members continue in Minsk on the eve of Putin’s visit to Belarus. Activist of “European Belarus” Maksim Vinyarski and leader of national-bolshevists Yauhen Kontush were jailed. The former was caught pasting posters meant for the Russian President. Ivan Amelchanka who organized the performance “Mucopok” at this year’s “Chernobyl Way” has been left in jail although his 15-day arrest is over.
