"Spartak" factory: "Yanka" toilet paper is a brand! (photo)
The factory administration is not going to refuse from the brand and is not planning to produce "Yakub" toilet paper.
A Euroradio reporter has found the toilet paper "Yanka" in the GUM. It was everywhere in the household department: on eth shelves, in boxes and on metal stands for flower pots. It was evident that "Yanka" was being promoted aggressively.
I took a pack. The paper was grey, one-ply and without scents or embossing. But the packing pleases your eyes: its blue like cornflowers and the ornament resembles the national one... And the inscription in the centre said: "Yanka".
The paper was produced at the Shklou factory "Spartak". A girl named ... Yana (!) answered the phone in the sales department. I asked her whether the tissue was called in her honour.
“It wasn't, I have been working here for only three months, - the girl is trying to vindicate herself. - The idea came to the administration's mind earlier. The production was launched after the modernisation last year. The packing design was made by the head of the workshop... Now we are promoting it in the other provinces”.
Thus, the toilet brand "Yanka" appeared last year. Thank God, it is not connected with this year's anniversary of writer Yanka Kupala.
“Yanka” is well-known in Mahilyou Province: the tissue was known as "Shklou paper" before "the rebranding". The toilet paper has started conquering the capital recently: it was delivered to the GUM and a few hypermarkets last week.
“We tried to explain that it was not good to give people's names to hygiene products, especially the ones like this. But we have not managed to convince the administration yet, - complains Yana. The administration says that "Yanka" is a brand and that they will not change anything. If there were a lot of complaints and phone calls, something may change".
The enterprise is not planning to produce "Yakub" toilet paper.
