Activists detained in Minsk, Vitsebsk on Square 2010 anniversary
Nina Bahinskaya was detained in the evening on December 19 in Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk.
According to the
information provided by human rights defenders and reported by BelaPAN, the elderly lady was detained at about 8 p.m.
Bahinskaya's exact whereabouts is unknown. The lady is famous by her active
participation in the opposition's actions. Her most famous action is unfolding
the white-red-white flag on the doorsteps of the House of Government.
In the daytime, photographer Henadz Veratsinski was detained during the UCP's
informational action in the center of Minsk. However, he was released from the
police department with no charges.
Activists of the BCD steering committee Stanislau Laurenau and Alyaksei
Kishchuk were detained on Wednesday under charges of petty hooliganism. They
will probably stand trial on December 20. They spent the night in the detention
center.
