Swedes with teddy bears could live in Minsk... opposite Administration
10 days has passed but KGB has not released the realtor who let a flat to them in Minsk. Euroradio has found the agency.
Euroradio has found the agency where Syarhei Basharymau works (this is the correct surname, not Bashamirau as it was informed earlier). They carefully answered that Syarhei "suddenly went on holidays" and even his mother did not know where he was and when he would come back.
“He has been away for about a week. Maybe 10 days. It happened rather unexpectedly and there is no way to contact him. His mother does not know anything either. She does not know when Syarhei will come back".
The other attempts to find some information about Basharymau who "suddenly went on holiday" brought Euroradio journalist to his ex-colleague. He agreed to describe the details of his colleague's disappearance. However, he did not know much. He even got to know about "the landing of teddy bears" from the journalist.
Syarhei Basharymau disappeared on July 7 - 3 days after the illegal visit of the Swedish plane to Belarus. His mother received a phone call from KGB in the evening - they said that her son had been detained on suspicion of assisting a group of people to cross the border illegally. Journalist Surapin was detained for the same reason.
Basharymau let a flat to Swedish citizens at the beginning of July. They were probably the same people who helped organize the landing of teddy bears. Euroradio has found out that he did not only let a flat to them - he also... registered them in his own flat. This procedure is required for all foreign citizens visiting Belarus. That is why KGB had no problems finding Basharymau.
The realtor rented many flats in the capital. For example, a flat in Melnikaite Street, in Independence Avenue and even... in Karl Marx Street, 45. It is close to the President's Administration. According to the Swedes' initial plan, the plane had to fly there. Unfortunately, the agency does not know which of the flats was rented.

Basharymau's 10-day term of detention was over on July 17. However, his phone was still switched off on the morning of July 18. Colleges say that "he is still on vacations".
Lawyer Harry Pahanyaila says that, according to the Belarusian laws, people can be detained for more than 10 days.
“It may be a preventive detention. If the person is suspected of terrorism or some other heinous crimes, they may be detained for 30 days".
However, assistance in crossing the border illegally cannot lead to more than 10 days of detention. But there are many holes in law. The guys accused of the notorious "anarchists' case" spent over 2 months in jail without any charges.
“People were detained again and again in the so-called anarchists' arson case. They were detained on suspicion of one crime at first, and then they were detained again for other reasons when the term of their detention was over. It happened several times - about 7 or 8 times".
UCP leader Anatol Lyabedzka spent the longest time in jail without any charges. He had been jailed in KGB prison for six months after December 19 and was not accused of anything.
