Syarhei Kavalenka’s trial to continue today
The CCP-BPF activist has not drunk any water for five days.
The hearing will be resumed in Vitsebsk Pershamaiski District Court at 10.30 p.m.
Let us remind you that Syarhei Kavalenka is accused of numerous violations of “his house penal labour regime” (he was sentenced to it for hoisting a white-red-white flag in Vitsebsk main New Year’s Tree two years ago). He has been kept in Vitsebsk detention centre since December. Kavalenka is facing up to three years of imprisonment.
Kavalenka demanded a recusation of the judge and prosecutor, but his request was not satisfied. Kavalenka’s relatives called an ambulance to court, doctors examined him but decided not to take him to hospital. Journalists were not allowed to enter the court room and almost all of his relatives were driven out.
