Syevyarynets' penal labour camp library enriched by 80 books
Baranavichy activists of BAJ, UCP, movement "For Freedom" and human rights defenders brought the books there.
On
November 15, they visited Pavel Syevyarynets, who is serving punishment in the
penal labour camp in the village of Kuplin, Pruzhany district. They brought
foreign and Belarusian classical literature to enrich the library of the penal
institution. Pavel Syevyarynets is a volunteer librarian there.
According to the political prisoner, it is very hard for him to work at the
spare parts warehouse lately as they fired the storeroom keeper and
Syevyarynets has to load the spare parts and keep the records simultaneously,
he has no free time at all. They let Pavel out only on Sundays, for 4 hours -
to go to the church, to the sauna and to the post-office.
Besides, the penal labour camp administration prohibited the convicts to have
computers as they were afraid that an "opposition nest" might appear
there.
