Tatstsyana Sevyarynets: Syarhei Kavalenka should feel desire to live
A group of Vitsebsk activists have addressed the head of the Regional Court and asked him to change the measure of restriction for CCP-BPF activist Syarhei Kava
Let us remind you that he was sentenced to 25 months of imprisonment in a colony for having violated “the home penal labour regime” (he was sentenced to it for having hoisted a white-red-white flag on Vitebsk’s main New Year’s Tree). Syarhei Kavalenka used to be on hunger-strike and is being forced to eat in the psychiatric department of the colony “Vitsba-3” now.

"We have removed all political aspects. We have simply expressed anxiety in connection with Syarhei Kavalenka’s life, fate and health condition and addressed the head of the Regional Court asking him to change Syarhei’s measure of restriction and to transfer him to civil hospital to help him improve his health condition… It is necessary because it should help Syarhei feel the desire to live and to stop the hunger-strike”.
Kavalenka’s appeal will be considered on April 10.
The Vitsebsk activists have also sent appeals to the international community, political parties and civil organizations asking them to struggle for Kavalenka’s release.
