Russia imposes food embargo on 5 more states

The food embargo has been imposed on Albania, Montenegro, Iceland and Lichtenstein. Ukraine has been added on the black list ‘on special terms’, RIA Novosti reports.

“The ban will affect Ukraine when the country’s economic association agreement with the EU signed in June 2014 comes into force,” Medvedev announced.

“The fact that the countries mentioned above have joined the sanctions meant that they were ready to be affected by the Russian sanctions in response to it,” the PM explained.

Montenegro, Albania, Lichtenstein and Ukraine joined the EU sanctions imposed on Russia at the end of July.

Besides the countries mentioned above, the EU member states, Switzerland, Norway, Canada, the USA and Australia are also affected by the Russian food embargo. It was imposed in response to the Western sanctions imposed on Russia.
