Russian envoy dissatisfied with Freedom Day celebration
Russian ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov says to see the portraits of Ukrainian nationalists in Minsk was unexpected.
They know very well who finances the Freedom Day in Minsk every year, the Russian Ambassador said.
Alexander Surikov: “But we did not expect to see people with the portraits of Bandera, Shuhevich and others there. As far as I understand, they were young members of the Young Front… Some young people do not remember what they (Bandera and Shuhevich. – Euroradio) did and what their grandparents, mothers, fathers and relatives suffered from. We are taken aback by such things. We would not like history to repeat itself with the help of radical right-wing movements.”
Furthermore, the current Ukrainian government seized power ‘with the help of bayonets’ of ‘these elements’, the Russian diplomat noted. It resulted in Russia’s actions in Crimea, Surikov said.
