Russian MP admits presence of Russian troops in Crimea
Leonid Slutski, head of CIS Affairs Committee at the Duma, admits the presence of Russian troops in Crimea on a Radio Echo of Moscow show on March 12

Speaking about the necessity to protect Crimea from ‘Kiev gangs’, Slutski claimed: “There are some troops there. They have taken positions in case Kiev decides to start an armed expansion. It is not a large-scale military operation.”
He expressed a hope that the situation would not result in a full-scale military operation.
Russia had not admitted the presence of its troops in Crimea before. The decision to bring troops to Ukraine had not been made yet, Vladimir Putin said at a press conference on March 4. He also said that the armed people in uniform without tokens where Crimean self-defence groups.
