Russian loan decision to be made by mid-year
Senior deputy head of Belarus' National Bank Taras Nadolnyi says decision on payments under Russia's $2 billion loan will be sorted out by mid-year.
Russia will give an additional interstate credit to Belarus, Vladimir Putin announced at the end of December 2013. The credit will total $2 billion. However, our country has only received $450 million so far.
Taras Nadolnyi has commented on the prospects:
"There are no exact terms but the work is in process. The mechanism is being tried out… It will be decided who will allocate it [the credit]: whether it will be done by the government or the Central Bank.”
The issue will be settled by midyear, the deputy head of the National Bank said. Minsk will start calling in the credit on January 15, 2017.
