Russian parliament approves troops for Ukraine
The upper house of the Russian parliament approves President Putin's request to deploy the Russian troops in Ukraine.
The Council of Federation's Committee on Defense and International Affairs approved President Putin's request to deploy the Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine in order 'to stabilize the situation' on the post-Soviet country.
This was stated during the ad hoc session of the upper house of the Russian parliament.
In the night of February 27, unidentified armed men seized the building of Criemea autonomous region's Supreme Council and the Council of Ministers in central Simferopol. On the next day, media reported that 11 Russian ginship choppers crossed the border of Ukraine, while armed men blockaded the airports in Simferopol and Belbek (Sevastopol). The airspace over Crimea was closed today for any transit traffic, while road blocks cordoned off land entries into the autonomy. Russian has continued building up its military presence in Crimea up to 6000 troops.
