Sensation: Spain 0-2 Chile
Holders Spain are knocked out of the 2014 World Cup after defeat to Chile (second straight defeat in Group B).
Spain clashed with Chile on June 18 at Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro in their second Group B match.
Trailing after the humiliating defeat to Holland (1-5), Spain needed only a victory over the stubborn Chile to keep their chance for the knock-out stages alive. However, Spain lost again! Eduardo Vargos had finished off a well-worked Chile attack on 20 minutes before a mistake from Spain keeper Iker Casillas allowed Charles Aranguiz to add Chile's second on 43 minutes. Spain failed to respond.
Holland and Chile are through to the next round with six points each after two matches. Spain are to return to their homeland after a no-decider gama against Australia.
