Slutsk rebellion anniversary marked today in Belarus and abroad (video)
On November 27,1920 the 1st Slutsk of the Belarusian People's Republic joint the battle with the Red Army.
This day is also celebrated as the Heroes Day. The battles between the Belarusian regiments, combined mostly of peasants, and the Bolshevists lasted for nearly a month. In the end of December 1920 the rebels had to draw off to the territory of Belarus, controlled by the Polish troops.
The Slutsk rebellion came into history as the first armed rebellion of Belarusians for their country's independence.
