Traditional solidarity action takes place in Minsk
The solidarity action has taken place in Minsk - a traditional action conducted by the opposition activists every month on 16th. Today it has taken place near the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. Pickets in defence of the church will be conducted every day from now on. As it was informed by “Nasha Niva”, 40 people participated in the action. The Co-Chairman of the steering committee for creating the party "Belarusian Christian Democracy" Paval Sieviarynets informed that Zmitser Dashkevich, Viachaslau Siuchyk and Mikalaj Dzemidzenka had been detained on the way to the Freedom Square.
There have been no more detentions during the action. Paval Sieviarynets stated it was necessary to use the pre-electoral period to struggle for the Church. Minsk city authorities want to make a hotel out of it.
After singing the anthem "God Almighty" there started a prayer. The present spoke about Aleh Biabenin, Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski, the Catholic Priest Falkouski. After that the participants of the action left.
