The National Anti-Crisis Management (NAM), together with Lithuanian partners, has prepared a report that recorded 136 thousand victims of crimes against humanity between May 2020 and May 2023. Speaking live at the Euroradio studio, NAM head Pavel Latushka said:
"These are murders, violence, sexual violence, political persecution and so on. In fact, one of the elements of this crime against humanity is forced deportation. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights recorded in his reports that more than 100 thousand Belarusians were forcibly deported to neighboring territories and other countries of the world."
Latushka clarified that "deportation is not only when you are forcibly thrown abroad." It also means creation of conditions that force people to leave the territory of the country of their citizenship: "This is what is happening now in Belarus. When there is mass repression, violence, political persecution in Belarus, detentions, arrests, murders for political reasons, people are forced to leave. And that is interpreted as deportation!"
The politician says that there is already a precedent under review at the International Criminal Court today: the case of Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Latushka noted that Poland recently signed an agreement with the United Arab Emirates on the extradition of criminals from the territory of the UAE:
"In fact, those who are on the territory of the Emirates can be extradited to Poland if criminal cases are opened in Poland. And there are such cases in Poland. And they concern citizens of Belarus who have committed crimes against Belarusians.
Why did I mention this? Because Lukashenka and his entourage like to go there, because they believe that this is a safe country for them. This will no longer be the case if the Polish prosecutor has a case against a certain person".
