Ukraine bans import of Belarusian pork, fears of African swine fever virus
Ukraine's Deputy Chief Inspector for Veterinary Medicine moves to suspend imports of Belarus-made pork effective from May 7 till further notice.
Our Southern neighbour has thus reacted to media reports about animals' plague at a farm Baranavichy district among fears the deaths might be caused by African swine fever virus. The Ukrainians hope to "find out all the circumstances" from their Belarusian colleagues in the near future.
However, Interfax-West news agency informs that the Department of Veterinary and Food Control of the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture has refuted the information published in a series of media about the dissemination of dangerous infection diseases in one of the pig complexes near Baranavichy. The officials say that the results of the laboratory studies confirm this.
