Ukraine: Tymoshenko claims Yanukovich attempts to disrupt Orange coalition
The post-election debates are in full swing in the neighboring Ukraine, with the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko having announced that Viktor Yanukovich's Party of Regions makes attempts to destroy the Orange coalition by buying off the future members of parliament. According to the information from Tymoshenko's bloc headquarters, the Party of Regions is developing a measure so that 150 members of the newly elected parliament refuse from taking an oath.
Tymoshenko's bloc accused the Party of Regions of arson at two pollling stations and of being in negotiations with the newly elected deputies to make them not vote for Yulia Tymoshenko as a new prime minister.
Tymoshenko's bloc has called on Ukraine's Central Elections Committee to end the vote count and announce the final election results so that they could start shaping a coalition. The Central Elections Committee is still missing the vote count information from five regional elections commissions.
On October 4, the Party of Regions entered into talks with the Communists and Socialists to build a new coalition. Yulia Tymoshenko yesterday rejected any possibility to build a coalition with Viktor Yanukovich.
On October 5, Our Ukraine -- People's Self-Defense (NU-NS) bloc of president Viktor Yuschenko proposed coalition negotiations to Tymoshenko's bloc. NU-NS leader Yury Lutsenko yesterday said in a statement that he saw no grounds for the presence of the white-blue (Party of Regions) in the new government. He assumed that the ministerial positions would be given to the bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko.
