Unknown Europe's info center for tourists works in Hrodna

The number of foreign tourists at the August Channel is expected to rise by more than two times this year. A tourism information center in Hrodna has been launched in the framework of the Unknown Europe, an international technical assistance program. Belarus is expected to receive a total of nearly 440,000 euros for this program. Two Belarusian organizations and one Polish organization are involved in the implementation of this program, the staff of the info center saysУ рамках праграмы міжнароднай тэхнічнай дапамогі “Невядомая Еўропа” ў Гродне адкрыўся турыстычны інфацэнтр. Усяго ж на гэты праект наша краіна атрымае каля 440 тысяч еўра. Рэалізацыяй праграмы займаюцца тры арганізацыі — 2 беларускія і 1 польская, кажуць у інфацэнтры.

“The partners in this project are a tourism agency from Suwalki (Poland), the Hrodna branch of the National Tourism and Physical Culture Union and the tourism and sports department at the Hrodna City Hall”.

The project has been imlemented since last fall and will end next year. It aims to create all the necessary conditions for the development of tourism at the Poland-Belarus border, the info center saidПраект дзейнічае ўжо з мінулай восені, а скончыцца ён павінен у наступным годзе. Яго заданне — стварыць усе неабходныя ўмовы для развіцця турызму на польска-беларускім памежжы, паведамілі нам ў інфацэнтры:

“The main goal is to develop the tourism infrastructure of the August Channel and River Neman basin both from the side of Suwalki (Poland) and from Hrodna (Belarus)”.

This requires tourism managers, trekking routes and other specialist and things. They will be trained and built for the money of the European Union. 36 people are already in the training on active tourism, agrotourism and marketing. The same number of specialists will be trained next year.

The youth can also count on Europe's assistance in the framework of the Unknown Europe program. The first group of students from Hrodna that study tourism will gor for a training course in Poland in early August.

Infocenter: "We are currently preparing a group of 254 students from the Hrodna-based universities that will be in Poland from August 3 through August 16. They will have a course in tourism management”.

The youth will visit Polish agrotourism sites, hotels and other tourism destinations. Next year, 24 best students will go for a similar training course in Poland. This year, 8 people contended for one place on the program. The trainees were picked through special questionannaires.
