Vitsebsk entrepreneurs to send delegates to Province Executive Committee
Self-employed and small-size entrepreneurs in Vitsebsk gathered at the trade centre Evokom on January 5. They decided to get to the Province Executive Committee on Wednesday to explain the authorities why they had stopped working after January 1.
A delegation representing vendors from 5 or 6 markets in the regional centre will head for the Province Executive Committee, head of the entrepreneurs’ aired union steering committee Razam Iryna Yaskevich told Radio Liberty. The entrepreneurs want to meet with the authorities. In any case, they will bring the decision made at the meeting and signed by 500 people along.
Other ways of protests were also discussed at the meeting. People suggested demanding certificates from trading networks like Euroopt and Korona. The vendors are confident that their goods are not worse than the goods available in shops and see no reason why the shops do not have to get certificates.
They are also planning a mass visit to the labour center to find out where hundreds of ex-entrepreneurs can get new jobs.
Entrepreneurs will gather on January 12 next time. They will discuss the results of their visit to the Executive Committee because the officials have not reacted to the suspension of markets’ work so far. They will discuss the future protest march in Minsk (an application was already submited). The entrepreneurs will begin to distribute leaflets in Vitsebsk within the next several days.
Similar meetings were held in Homel and Mahilyou on January 5.
