Yarmoshyna: Withdrawal of Karatkevich will not affect legitimization of elections
According to chairwoman of the Central Election Commission, Lidziya Yarmoshyna, withdrawal Tatsiana Karatkevich will not have impact on the legitimization of the presidential election, if it is done on her own initiative and "without a base."
Yarmoshyna: "She can, of course, make a sounding statement that the country has no choice and freedoms. But if neither she nor friends of her group were arrested, nothing was confiscated, it is clear that this is nothing more than an empty declaration. Another thing is that it will make the atmosphere of the elections non-European: after all, the elections have always involved the opposing parties. And without her, in addition to the current head of the country, participating in the elections would be citizens, who generally are in the President's team at the time when they are not participating in the elections. And, of course, they do not oppose him (Siarhei Haidukevich and Mikalai Ulakhovich - Euroradio). Thus, it is only bad from the perspective of a political background. When the international observers and journalists arrive (or do not arrive) and say, "Oh, your elections are boring - the president and his two supporters are participating in the elections!"
But if there are no "mass executions or decision of the Central Committee, for example, reprimand," applied, that will not legitimize the election in any way, Yarmoshyna assured.
