Youth activists start campaign in support of journalist Zdzvizhkou
A campaign in support of the former deputy editor-in-chief of the “Zhoda” newspaper Alyaksandr Zdzvizhkou has been started by youth activists. An unregistered movement “BUNT” is distributing leaflets containing information about the sentence of the journalist imprisoned for three years in a colony for reprinting cartoons of prophet Mohammed.
The authors of the leaflets are wondering why the Belarusian journalist was imprisoned for reprinting cartoons published by 143 editions from 56 countries of the world. They think that the reason for such a strict sentence may be the friendship of the official Minsk with a number of Islamic countries.
Let us remind you that Alyaksandr Zdzvizhkou lodged an appeal to the Supreme Court on January 30. At the moment the journalist is in the confinement cell of the Department of the Interior of Minsk City Executive Committee in Valadarskaha Street. He was delivered there from the KGB confinement cell.
