10:34 “Memorial” nominated for Nobel Peace Prize
The European Parliament deputies have nominated the organization “Memorial” dealing with human rights protection for Nobel Peace Prize.
“Memorial” is known all over the world for helping people living in “hot spots” in the former Soviet Union and for investigation of crimes committed by the USSR communist regime.
In particular, “Memorial” is trying to make Russia admit the execution of Polish officers and policemen shot in Katyn in March 1940. They were victims of political repressions and “Memorial” demands their official vindication, reports “Gazeta Wyborcza”.
