11:40 Members of opposition detained in Pinsk
A former opposition’s candidate for the regional Soviet of Deputies, member of BNF, Alyaksandr Ramanovіch got detained near his house at about 8 p.m. on March 20. An ‘official warning” for libel and insulting the President, organization of pickets, distribution of printed editions, etc. was pronounced to him and several other people, for example, the editor-in-chief of the “Myastsovy chas” newspaper Vіktar Yarashuk and members of BNF Ales Auseenka and Kastus Chuvak.
Now these people are being watched. There are cars waiting near their houses. The members of opposition were detained after they had refused to sign the warning.
A reporter from “Myastsovy chas” Nadzeya Andreeva says:
“I happened to be at the police office yesterday at about 7 p.m. I accidentally overheard a talk between policemen who were worried about the fact that none of the opposition members signed the warning and it was necessary to prepare reports by the end of the day.
“So, we’ll have to detain them”, — said Major Yauhen Vіkulau adding several surnames on the list of people to be detained. We led our editor-in-chief to his house, but the car was waiting in front of his drive-in”.
