15 thousand fine for parking “at an angle”

What other unpleasant surprises are there in the changed road laws?

Contrary to all expectations tax inspectors will not make drivers changes their tyres for the winter. They will only recommend it. The head of the propaganda department of Minsk tax inspectorate Zhana Traino confirmed it to ERB.

Zhana Traino: “It is written that winter tyres are only recommended. It means that it is not forbidden to use summer tyres in winter”.

The necessity to put children in the back seat in special children’s chairs will also be a recommendation. However, a reporter from the “Autobusiness” newspaper Syarhei Mihailau explained ERB that innovations that may complicate the life of drivers have been added to the new road laws.

Syarhei Mіhailau: “The driver who got into an accident will have to note down not only the words of witnesses but also the numbers of nearby cars. If he has difficulty with orienting after the accident he has to write down people’s surnames, names and numbers of dozens of people and cars”.

According to “Autobusiness”, the most important change is the extended rights of emergency cars and communal services vehicles. They will be able to drive the way they like and where they need to.

Syarhei Mіhailau: “They will now be allowed to cross the separator. They used to be forbidden to do it. Although they did it anyway”.

The rules also denote the allowed size of curtains and blinds attached to car windows. They used to be allowed not only on the back window, but also on side windows. Now you can only decorate the back window like that.

Clarity has been introduced into the parking rules. You can only park along the border if there are no parking road signs.

Syarhei Mіhailau: “If there are no road signs denoting the way of parking, the car has to be placed in parallel with the roadway. It should never be placed at an angle”.

People are advised to pay special attention to this innovation in many cities. Otherwise you may be fined for 15 thousand 500 BRB.
