1500 doctors needed in Brest region
Brest region is experiencing a serious shortage of medical workers. This in turn affects the efficiency of medical assistance in the area. The regional health care department told the European Radio for Belarus that almost 1500 doctors are currently needed.
Almost 1000 employed doctors are pensioners. The regional healthcare authorities have applied for 554 young professional from medical schools. However, the latter meet the demand, because recruitment of students by medical universities was significantly reduced in 1990s.
