19:18 Chernobyl March organizers to sue Minsk city hall

The Minsk City Hall has okeyed this year's Chernobyl March to take place from the building of the Academy of Sciences to the Bangalore. Participants are expected to gather at 1800 on April 26 and proceed to the People's Friendship Park, where a rally is sanctioned from 2000 to 2200. The city authorities warned the rally organizers that they would face prosecution if the route of the action was to be changed or unregistered symbols used.

The representatives of the organizing committee refused to sign the warning papers. They believe that the Minsk City Hall thus violated Article 6 of the Law on Mass Actions, because the decision was taken without approval of the applicants.

The Chernobyl March's organizing committee is now set to file a complaint to a court to appeal the decision of the city authorities. The rally will take place in the format depending on the ruling of the court, writes Nasha Niva newspaper.
