7 thousand Ukrainians got work permits in Belarus in 2014
25 thousand Ukrainians have been registered in Belarus since the beginning of the year. It is 25% more than last year.
Head of the MFA Migration and Citizenship Department Alyaksei Byahun told Euroradio:
Alyaksei Byahun: “We can only talk about the people who have registered – 25 thousand Ukrainian citizens. 250 thousand people applied for the refugee status. Over 7 thousands got work permits. However, it is clear that some people started working last year. Some of them received residence permits or even citizenship in connection with it.”
There are no refugee camps for Ukrainians in Belarus, he told Euroradio. Ukrainian citizens are being consulted and advised looking for jobs in the regions ‘that need specialists and can offer accommodation’.
