Alesin: Russian troops to pose no threat to Belarus at West 2017 drills
Belarus-Russia manoeuvres pose no threat either to Belarus or our neighbours, independent military expert Alyaksandr Alesin told Euroradio.
Russia is planning to deliver more than 4000 carriages of military equipment and soldiers to Belarus for the manoeuvres. Russia is getting ready for new aggression probably directed at Ukraine, some mass media think.
However, the mentioned number of troops is not enough to control Belarus, the Baltic States and Ukraine, Alesin thinks. Only a third of personnel can participate in warfare while the remaining two thirds have to establish all kinds of provision services.
Most likely, Russia is planning to practice redeployment, the military expert believes.
