American scientists clone human stem cells
The cells have been received from human embryo clones.
The cells can be used to produce heart muscles, bones, brain tissue or any other type of human cells.
The research results have been published in Cell. The methods used during the cloning of Dolly the sheep were used during the experiments conducted by scientists from Oregon, BBC reports.
Stem cells can be received from other sources as well, experts think. The other sources are simpler, less expensive and less ethically controversial.
Opponents of the method think that it is unethical to experiment on human embryos and are urging to forbid the method. Both natural and artificial embryos can develop into a human being and it is amoral to experiment on them, critics say.
They think that stem cell should only be received from adults. However, adherents of the method assure that the embryos used in the experiment will never be able to develop into a normal human being.
