Andrej Aramnau disqualified for half a year

As it was informed to the European Radio for Belarus by the weight-lifter himself, he had been suspended from sport because of doping back in June. At the same time, the sportsman denies he used cannabis. Belarusian weight-lifter Andrej Aramnau will miss the World Championship due to the 6-months disqualification, which started soon after revealing of positive results of his doping-tests taken right after the European Championship in Minsk this April.

Andrej Aramnau : “It seems I got caught in Minsk after the European Championship. And they disqualified me for half a year. But what makes me angry is that no one calls, no one says anything - they just asked me to leave the training camp and that's it.

However, I'll be back on December 6!”

There has been an information that the reasons why Aramnau misses the World Championship which is now taking place in Turkey are bad sports conditions of the weight-lifter and his wish to end the career. The newspaper "Pressball" also gave a version that there had been traces of cannabis in Andrej's doping test. However, Andrej Aramnau refutes these rumours:

“What did they found? That's the first time I hear about this! I never tired cannabis in my life, trust me!”

Now Andrej Aramnau trains by himself. According to him, he will proceed to another weight category as his weight is now approaching 110 kilos. It will take the weight-lifter 2-3 months to get into the optimal shape.
