Arrested European Belarus activists to stand trial on Monday
The three young people have been accused of petty hooliganism.
European Belarus activist Maksim Vinyarski, Leanid Kulakou and Syarhei Matskoits are expected to stand trial in Minsk District Court on June 22. They were detained near the hypermarket Gippo in Lahoiski Tract during an action in support of Homel oppositionist Yury Rubtsou on June 19.
The activists tried hoisting the banner Release Rubtsou back then. The oppositionist was imprisoned for two years on May 28. Amnesty International announced him a prisoner of conscience.
The detained members of European Belarus were delivered to Minsk Partyzanski District police office at first. Then they were transferred to Minsk District. They will probably be accused of petty hooliganism, BelaPAN reports.
