Kurmanbek Bakiyev whose resignation from the post of the president of Kyrgyzstan was announced on April 16 has not fled the territory of the country. In the morning of April 17 several media houses reported, quoting anonymous sources, that Bakieyev had allegedly flew from Kazakhstan to Belarus. The former president, who signed his resignation statement in Taraz, arrived in the city in the evening of April 15.
