Belarus and Russia solve “gas problems” in Saint Petersburg (online)
"We will find out who should pay the debt in court!” – the Russian vice Prime Minister Igor Sechin has commented on the dialogue about gas debts conducted by Russian and Belarusian officials with the help of mass media today.
A radio station “Moscow’s Echo” informs that the official Minsk’s statements that “Gazprom”’s debt for transit of Russian gas across Belarus was even bigger than the sum our country oweds to the Russian monopolist dissatisfied Vladimir Putin’s deputy.
The Belarusian authorities have not presented any documents proving the gas transit debt to Russia. The vice Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, head of the board of directors of “Gazprom” Victar Zubkou, has claimed it off-stage during the intentional economic forum in Saint Petersburg.
According to Zubkou, if Belarus would like to voice its disagreement with Russia, “it should prepare documents and send them to us”. “We say: you owe us – here are the documents. And they say: you owe us but we have no documents”, - reports BFM.RU quoting Mr. Zubkou.
According to Russian mass media, the gas negotiations between the head of “Gazprom” Alexei Miller and the Belarusian Minister of Economy Alyaksandr Azyarets have already started in Saint Petersburg.
Russia will activate international legal mechanisms in case the transit of energy supplies across Belarus is threatened. The Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Shmotko has claimed it to journalists.
"If we feel that the transit is in danger, we will activate international legal prevention mechanisms existing between Russia and the European Union”, - said Shmatko commenting on the statement about the Belarusian-Russian gas relations made by the senior deputy Minister of Energy of Belarus Edward Taupyanets.
Let us remind you that Taupyanets said that “the limitation of gas supplies to Belarus by 85% may also affect transit issues”.
"I cannot believe that it is a responsible statement made by a responsible person”, - reports RIA “Novosti” quoting Mr. Shmotko.
