Belarus celebrates Christmas-2010

According to her, Volha Nyaklyaeva  has filed a complaint to the general public prosecutor Ryhor Vasilevich. There is an information that Nyaklyaeu is likely to be not in the KGB detention center, but in hospital, underlines the human rights activist. Volha demands to provide her information on her husband's whereabouts, and give his lawyer access to him so she could find out about his health.

Tankachova has told that searches took place during the whole day. The searches were conducted in private apartments, in the apartments of the activists who are now in the KGB prison, as well as in the apartments of a number of civil activists in the regions. The apartments of Viachaslau Siuchyk, Aleh Vouchak, Uladzimir Khalip, Aliaksandr Atroshchankau's parents and wife, Zmitser Bandarenka, Aliaksandr Arestovich, Natallia Radzina's mother, as well as the UCP Minsk office, have been searched.

Computers and information carriers have been confiscated in the apartment of the regional activist Jury Alejnik's parents, although they claimed this property did not belong to Jury.

Among the positive moments of today Tankachova named the meeting of the head of Nyaklyaeu's election HQ Andrej Dzmitryeu with his lawyer. Iryna Minina managed to see her client for the first time today, she is under the obligation of confidentiality. Iryna could only say that Andrej feels ok, he is focused and determined. His health condition does not cause worries, although the lawyer knows about his chronical heart problems. The human rights activist said that long absense of contacts betweeen the lawyer and the client made her suspect there might be health problems.

Two young human rights activists Volha Damarad and Mikhail Matskevich were detained yesterday night, the trial will take place on Monday in the Maskouski district court. They conducted monitoring of court trials against the people detained on December 19-20.

Tankachova also stated that the appeal of the National Platform of the "Eastern Partnership" Civil Society Forum had been widely disseminated today. More than 35 people signed it and thus condemned the brutal dispersal of the demonstration on December 19 and called on the authorities to release the presidential candidates and their adherents immediately, and also to stop political harassment of citizens, said Tankachova.

After the air with Tankachova, the Minsk office of the European Radio for Belarus has been searched.
