Belarus decides to join UN peacekeepers “gradually”
A Belarusian delegation in New York is taking part in a session of the special UN commission for peacekeeping activities. “Interfax” reports that the delegation is headed by the deputy state secretary of the Security Council Stanislau Zas. The head of the Belarusian delegation has noted that our country has reacted to the request of the UN Secretary General and has taken a decision to join UN peacekeeping activities gradually.
As ERB informed earlier, soldiers are recruited to the Belarusian peacekeeping company with the help of the Internet. They are promised good wages, training in firing grounds and parachute jumps. The Belarusian peacekeeping company was created in 2007. It is planned to conduct operations in the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). It is stationed in Minsk as part of the mechanized brigade in Uruchie District.
