Belarus-EU relations to be discussed in Brussels
Brussels will on March 4 host a discussion titled "Six Months Later: Successes and Problems in Belarus-EU relations", the Brussels-based non-governmental organization The Office for Democratic Belarus told Belapan news agency. The discussion will be organized by the factions of the Party of European Socialists and the European People's Party at the European Parliament, the Pontis Foundation and the Office for Democratic Belarus.
On October 13, 2008 the foreign ministers of the EU member states suspended for six months the sanctions against high-ranking Belarus officials in order to push for democratic reforms in Belarus. This term will expire in mid April.
The discussion will also be attended by representatives of the Belarusian NGOs, members of the European Parliament and high-ranking officials from the Council of Europe and the European Commission.
