Belarus has no plans to send troops for peace-making missions abroad: defense minister
Belarus does not plan to take part in peace-making missions abroad in the near future, Defense Minister Leanid Maltsau said in a statement. He said that certain conditions for the participation of Belarus troops in peace-making missions would be created one day. The defense minister would not elaborate on the time frames.
However, Belarusian soldiers are already eligible to serve as peace-keepers abroad.
"Natually, it is envisaged by Belarus laws", says Defense Ministry spokesman Vyachaslau Ramenchyk. However, it is yet to be known whether Belarus has received such requests.
Belarus armed forces has a peace-keeping company which undergoes training in accordance with the UN adapted programs.
